“When it comes to responding to disasters, there is no more comprehensive group than Southern Baptists. Through Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR), Southern Baptists have opportunities to be the hands of feet of Jesus to people seeking hope during a time of crisis.
SBDR has gained national and international recognition for service in crisis situations across North America. State convention leaders invest significant resources to provide proper training and credentials for volunteers in specific roles. SBDR volunteers stand ready at a moment’s notice and are often early responders in times of destructive storms. For over 50 years, SBDR has specialized in providing hot meals, shower trailers, child care, laundry services, and structural repair. With a trained volunteer force exceeding 60,000 people, SBDR fuels the third largest disaster relief agency in the United States.
SBDR partners with FEMA, the Department of Homeland Security and other national volunteer organizations to meet the urgent needs of communities in crisis. These organizations work in harmony to move equipment, people, and other physical resources in affected areas.” (NAMB)
